Although Samara offers a lot without forcing it in travellers’ faces (the presence of tourism in the area is apparent but not annoying), the fact of the matter is, travellers who would rather stay within the boundaries of their chosen accommodation with little interest in venturing out to explore its surroundings would not benefit from the plethora of detail that is available to be experienced in the Samara region. Santa Teresa, Mal País, & Tambor beaches are just a few of the uncrowded options. The pavement and bridges are slowly creeping south from Tamarindo, north from Paquera and expanding in the middle by Samára but there are still plenty of remote spots where the rivers are too high to ford in the rainy season and you may need 4WD even in the dry months. The Playa Garza area is simply a stretch of Nicoya Peninsula coastline (it is a “blink and you’ll miss it” type of place)–it does not offer a town community, accommodation options, or a plethora of tour/activity offerings.
